La cuisine classique française, portée par l'âme du Nouveau Monde.
Chef Propriétaire & Founder
Born in Lyon, trained under Joël Robuchon in Paris, and drawn to America by the restless appetite of its diners, Laurent Beaumont arrived in Charleston in 1994 with a single valise and a grandmother's recipe book. He opened Maison Laurent in a converted 19th-century carriage house on King Street, and the city has never been the same.
Chef Laurent's kitchen is governed by a simple creed: respect the ingredient, honor the tradition, and allow the season to lead. His brigade sources daily from Lowcountry farms and the early-morning docks at Shem Creek, folding Carolina shrimp into bisques that could make a Marseillaise weep.
Three decades on, the restaurant holds two Michelin stars and remains, to its regulars, simply the best table in the city — unhurried, generous, and unmistakably French.
Maison Laurent seats just forty-two guests each evening, ensuring that every table receives Chef Laurent's undivided attention. We recommend reserving at least two weeks in advance for dinner service, and four weeks for our Chef's Table experience.
Sequestered behind velvet curtains on the mezzanine, Le Salon Particulier seats up to twenty guests in an atmosphere of unhurried intimacy. Crystal chandeliers, hand-painted toile wallpaper, and a dedicated sommelier make it the city's finest setting for rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations of every kind.
Chef Laurent offers bespoke menus for each occasion, from a simple three-course à la carte to an eight-course tasting with wine pairings drawn from our 600-label cellar.

★★ Michelin Guide — 2023 & 2024
"Maison Laurent is not a restaurant one visits — it is one one returns to, again and again, because nowhere else in the South does time slow quite so pleasurably."
— The Michelin Guide, Southern United States
James Beard Foundation — Best Chef: Southeast, Nominee 2022
"Beaumont's sole meunière is a lesson in restraint from a chef who could easily show off — and that, precisely, is why it is perfect."
— The New York Times, Dining
Wine Spectator — Grand Award, 2019–2024
"In thirty years of reviewing restaurants, I have encountered perhaps a handful that felt truly inevitable — Maison Laurent is one of them."
